Dan Vanderboom is the founder of Critical Insight Inc. and the creator of CognOS, a distributed cognitive AI operating system designed to power safe, scalable, multi-agent intelligence. With more than two decades of experience in software architecture, distributed systems, AI engineering, and applied machine intelligence, Dan is recognized as one of the leading technical thinkers in the emerging cognitive systems space.
Before founding Critical Insight, Dan served as a solutions architect at a leading global engineering consultancy, where he designed and delivered advanced AI systems for Fortune-level clients, including natural-language analytics tools, agent-based orchestration frameworks, vector search systems, and enterprise-grade generative AI architectures. His work accelerated the firm's AI practice and earned recognition as one of the top engineers in the organization.
Dan's career spans the full spectrum of the industry, from early-stage startups where he served as a founding engineer shaping product and infrastructure from the ground up, to enterprise software companies and large-scale platform teams serving global markets. Across those roles, he led teams building large-scale intelligence, perception, and mobile systems, and holds multiple Microsoft Azure expert-level certifications across architecture, DevOps, AI engineering, and IoT.
Today, Dan is focused full-time on advancing CognOS, a cognitive operating system built with AI-accelerated engineering. His work explores the frontier of agentic intelligence, declarative system design, and the structural grammar of knowledge and reasoning.
